Spring has finally sprung here in New Hampshire. Or maybe I should say summer. We went from 30 degrees to 85 degrees in the course of 2 days.
With the warmer temps, my daffodils have emerged (more than a week later than last year), heralding the spring with their trumpets held aloft!
I’m in a yellow mood.

Yellow is the color of happiness and joy. It’s energetic, and to be honest, it’s the friendliest color, in my humble opinion. After a LOOOOOOOOONG winter, I am happy to be out in shorts and short sleeves, watching baseball games without convulsively shivering because I insisted on only wearing a fleece and not my ski coat.
I haven’t yet had a client for whom I could design a yellow room, and I’m just itching to do it. But in the absence of that, I’ve decided to round up some of my very favorite, happy yellow things for the home. Beginning with the happiest, most welcoming room in the house (IMO), the kitchen!

Mitzi (in the same family of lighting brands as Hudson Valley Lighting) just debuted this pendant at the Spring 2018 Highpoint Market, after I did my roundup on colorful kitchen pendants and lanterns. There are 10 color/finish combinations!!! Be still, my heart.

Ok, I really want the club chairs, but I don’t have a place for them!!! I’m also dying to use the Mitzi Leigh lantern. Any favorites of yours?
I’ll be back on Thursday with the final reveal of Home Glow’s One Room Challenge — the Ultimate She-Shed. Until then, I’ll be sweating bullets.

Amy,
What a welcome surprise this morning! Love all your yellow rooms, especially the kitchens-so bright and beautiful!
Thanks, Diana. There were sooooo many more I wanted to show people — yellow woodwork, yellow bathrooms, yellow fabrics — but I had to stop before I inundated people. It’s been a VERY long winter. 😉 Happy spring to you!
What a happy post! And, while I can’t really relate to the need to see spring weather because I live in Florida, I’m happy for those of you up north who have had a very long winter. I’m not what I would call a “yellow” person, I do love more mellow shades with a bit of gold in the mix. It’s nice to see it showing up again in home decor. I also like seeing the kitchen you featured from Amanda Louise interiors which shows a more modestly sized kitchen that many of us can relate to. Thanks!
