One of the layers of “implied time” I wanted to incorporate in my Remodeling a Remuddle kitchen renovation was a brass pot rack over the range.
My reasons were threefold:
- It would look really awesome.
- It would be practical — need a skillet?? There it is, right in front of your face!
- It would save a little bit of room in my overstuffed pots/pans drawer.
Practical CAN be pretty!

I wanted a brass pot rack about 40″ long to go over my 48″ Midnight Blue Aga Elise range. This Etsy seller’s products fit the bill beautifully!

I asked, and you can even do a chrome bar and brass brackets for another mixed metal combo! You can choose one of the sizes listed, or contact the seller for a custom size.
I love how the brass looks with my weathered stainless skillets.

I loved the rack so much that I even bought a second to use to hang mugs under my plate rack!
Yes, there is an outlet there. Practical isn’t *always* pretty.
If you don’t need a custom size — especially if you have a 36″ range — you have far more options. I’ve created a little roundup of some of my favorites.

Of course, you can also have a local metal worked custom make one as well, but that’s a lot more work. 😉

I have to say, I was a little worried at first that the pans would get really greasy from splatter, etc. But that really hasn’t happened. I use the front 2 burners for most of my sautéing and searing, and the grease doesn’t splatter that far back. In any case, I use these pans and wash them almost daily. If they got dirty, they would soon be clean again.
And I love the lived-in and “useful” feel that my hanging pans give to my space.
What do you think?
We’re supposed to take Things 1 & 2 skiing today, and my blood literally runs cold at the thought of being out in these icy temps. Stay warm for me!
