It’s October!!! My favorite month during my favorite time of the year. The colors are amazing right now, and we’re heading out apple picking this morning. If you were to come and visit, you might see me leaping like a gazelle through the apple trees and gobbling up my cider doughnuts and apple crisp before southern New England can get here!
I love all things fall, and I love that it’s the one time of year that people seem to be ok with taking a break from blues and neutrals to indulge in — nay, clamor for! — warm color schemes in camel, sienna, pumpkin, and marigold.
In searching for inspiration of my own, I came across this image of a dining room by designer James Farmer

BTW, James Farmer’s Instagram account is a positive celebration of fresh traditional eye candy in these warm hues! I found a few more images of this space taken from different angles.

I love the use of vintage china and vintage brown furniture mixed with the white French style chairs in a warm camel velvet! So I’ve put together a look for less for you all. Perhaps I can convince some of you to step outside the neutral zone. 😉
1. Grasscloth wallpaper. Good price for a double roll, especially when it’s on sale, like right now! Comes in 6 other colors.
2. This is a value priced & lovely look-alike for a much more expensive fabric! Have this Etsy maker sew your drapes.
4. These traditional breakfronts are all over Craigslist, consignment stores, and auctions. But this eBay seller has a a big selection if your area of the country is lacking.
5. You can search beautiful vintage patterns at Replacements.com, but I also liked this fresh update on traditional bone china, and you can use those 20% off coupons that always come in the mail!
9. Another fun update on a typical walnut extension dining table. Nice price for style & walnut look.
10. Diamond patterned rug in sisal.
11. Copper velvet fabric. Love it!
12. This vendor allows you to provide your own fabric for this chair.
What do you think of them apples????? Are warm colors coming back? Will Millennials approve? I say, bring it on!
I’ll be back next week with the reveal of my small but mighty Boot Room. See you next Saturday, and go get you some apples, too. 🙂

Beautiful! I usually am drawn to cooler palettes but I really like this.
I think this is a palette normally associated with the Baby Boomers, but I really love it, too!
Hi Amy, I was curious about the chandelier, but somehow the link directed me to the chair?
Oh my goodness, thanks for letting me know! The link is now fixed, but you can also get it here.
Being a southerner myself, I absolutely love James Farmer and his design work! I just got his second book, and it is fantastic. Thanks for featuring all of these beautiful colors. I guess my age shows with my preference for color over only using neutrals, but there is definitely a place for both looks.
